Masterplan
The clients have a 1.5 acres parcel of land close to Nelamangala. They aimed to build a weekend home set in a land filled with native flora, along with some vegetable gardens. They also aimed to increase the biodiversity with a keen interest in birds.
The clients had a distinct vision of their land, one which included moving to the land eventually with their family. They also had a rough design in mind for the entire land. Understanding that they wanted to be closely involved with the execution of the parcel of land, Ananas decided it would be best to start with just 0.5 acres of it and developed a planting plan for the same. The site is longer than wide, and the design evolved around an existing trench and the need for a main access way. As a result, the best way forward was to divide the 0.5 acres into rows along the longer edges and leave the central remaining land to build a syntropic food forest.
The avenue rows along the road and eastern boundary with various kinds of flowering trees and shrubs provide many ecological functions with respect to improving the biodiversity, especially in terms of inviting birds and other pollinators, which in turn would help with the syntropic food forest, medicinal forest species along the western boundary and the vegetable gardens within their land.
