This workshop was conducted as part of an ongoing project at Sparkling Mindz School. The project team was working on the zoning and design of the school campus and wanted to ensure that the students—the primary stakeholders—had a say in the different elements and location of elements.

To take the students through the process and introduce them to the concept of zoning, we conducted an activity, asking them to envision their ideal school campus, come up with a list of elements and place them on the map after considering aspects like slope, wind patterns, existing vegetation, etc. The students showed remarkable creativity, and empathy towards biodiversity, especially birds, wanting to ensure the design included both humans and non-humans.

To wrap up the session, the students planted some tree and biomass species on the nursery land, in the process learning about soil building and planting methods.
