This 5-hour, hands-on slope analysis workshop was held at Ananas Studio and brought together architects, permaculture designers, landowners, and others curious about reading land more carefully.

The session began with an introduction to contour maps and elevations, followed by practical exercises where participants analysed slopes directly from maps. We explored how different slope conditions influence zoning, access, drainage, and overall design decisions, and worked through real scenarios to understand the opportunities and constraints each terrain presents. Participants also learned to identify potential site issues and discuss appropriate strategies before design or implementation begins. The day concluded with an open question and answer session that naturally evolved into a wider discussion on earthworks, grounding the technical learning in real world practice and experience.
